Preventive/
Wellness Care

Preventive Care/Wellness Services:

Vista Falls Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of preventive care services to help your pets live a long and happy life. Scheduling regular checkups aids in early detection of issues/problems before they become severe or costly and in worst cases, irreversible.

We make our annual preventive care recommendations based on the guidelines established by the American Veterinary Medical Association, who recommend annual visits that allow Veterinarians to monitor changes in your pets that might indicate potential problems. Without making annual visits, these problems may go undetected. Conversely, identifying these issues early allows us to prevent more serious problems from occurring.

Annual Wellness Exam

Our veterinarian will take a complete medical history, assess behavior, make nutritional recommendations and review any medical conditions.

The following will be performed during a wellness exam: Ear and eye examination, heart and lung analysis, temperature reading, abdominal palpation, dental exam, dermatological exam and musculoskeletal examination.

Vaccines based on your pets lifestyle: Core vaccinations for dogs include rabies and distemper. Veterinarian may recommend additional vaccines based on lifestyle/breed. Core vaccines for cats are rabies and feline distemper. May recommend feline leukemia if cat is outdoors.

Parasite control/prevention: Prevent and control parasites such as heartworms, intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks. Many internal and external parasites can be passed along to humans. By controlling/preventing parasites it helps to protect you and your family.

Diagnostic testing/wellness blood work: Routinely performed to insure organs are functioning/working properly. Allows us to monitor kidneys, pancreas, liver, blood cells (to insure there is no underlying condition), infection, cancer, thyroid disease, kidney or liver disease and hormonal conditions.
